The Black Lion in Abergorlech is just a mile from The Barn. It is a lovely 16th century former coaching inn and offers great home-cooked food. The steaks are tender and juicy local Welsh beef but vegetarians are also well provided for (particularly if you advise them when you book). There is a picturesque beer garden overlooking the River Cothi where you can enjoy a drink or a meal on sunny days. Muddy bikers, walkers and dogs are welcome. The Black Lion is a wonderful, friendly pub that our guests always recommend.
The restaurant at Ty Mawr in Brechfa (3 miles), serves a range of homemade meals from locally sourced seasonal ingredients. The daily changing menu can offer delights such as Cantaloupe Melon wrapped in Carmarthen Dry Cured Ham and set on Ty Mawr Apple and Mustard Seed Pickle to Dressed Cardigan Bay Crab with Dill Mayonnaise, Taliaris Salad Leaves and New Potatoes. Lunch and dinner offered by reservation only.
Y Polyn (11 miles) serves great locally sourced food in an informal relaxed atmosphere. The winner of the AA Restaurant of the Year award for Wales 2009 -2010 and the holder of two AA rosettes and an Egon Ronay Star. One of The Observer’s 20 best places to eat Summer 2010. Open for lunch & dinner Tues- Sat & Sunday lunch. Y Polyn is well worth a visit if you love your food!
The Cawdor Hotel in Llandeilo (19 miles), with its mix of
contemporary and antique style offers an afternoon tea not to be missed!
The restaurant is available for lunch and dinner and offers an interesting
menu made from fresh, local ingredients. An Al a Carte menu is available
on Saturday evenings.
Llandeilo also has a number of other pubs and deli’s where you can grab a
coffee or light snacks and meals.
